We placed an ad on craiglist to sell our 5th wheel. My husband received texts as follows:

Scammer: Still for sale? 5th wheel for $4000.00.

Reply: Yes

Scammer: Hello, I\'m glad this is still available for sell, name is Gerry Wollam from Magna, Utah, i\'m okay with the item has stared in your advert and the asking p-rice, due to the long distance the easiest way for me to make the payment is through a bank check and i\'ll wait till your bank verify and clears the check before we proceed with the shipment, i will also handle the pickup and delivery when the

Reply: Can you call me

Scammer: Sorry can\'t call right now, I would have love to come over cash, it\'s because of the long distant and i\'m a busy person due to the nature of my work, i understand that there are many scams going on online, but to keep you rest assured about the payment, i will wait for your bank to verify and clear the check before we proceed with the shipment, so let me know if you really want to sell it to me.

Reply: I do, what do you need from me

Scammer: I will need your name, address, city, state, sip code for me to issue the check to you.

Reply: Are you going to mail a check?

Scammer: Yes

Reply: Name and address given to scammer.

Scammer: I will be adding the shipment fee to your asking price, you are too deduct your money and send the remaining money to the mover that will come for the pickup, i know this is none of your business, but due to the mover\'s policy that the shipment fee has to be sent by you, to show that your have permitted them to come for the pickup at your side. Please withdraw the advert from Craigs to avoid

At this point I googled this guy and found this website. Thank goodness!!! I just had a really bad feeling about this whole situation and couldn\'t figure out why someone from Utah would want to purchase a 1987 5th wheel from someone in Nevada and pay for shipping. Some people really are horrible. Our last reply via text was \"Nevermind, we read about you on google, scammer!\"

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
