Selling my car on Gumtree.
Received sms, requesting contact via web mail only to buyer.
First buyer, Jason, was also working on an oil rig, couldnt talk on the phone and was happy to buy a vehicle without even seeing it. But wait, theres more! Take the advetising of the vehicle down and he will graciously add another $200 to the asking price. Amazing.
I checked Jason's email, and it was a scam like the next one I received.
This is the second attempt to contact me: Buy my car without seeing it: Send money to my nominated BSB and account number. (That I didnt send them and warn others never to do)Then a delivery guy will be despatched to collect my car.
I havent bothered contacting Wayne back, just a heads up to everyone out there. This is a preatty crude scam. And a Paypal or funds transfer notice is NOT money in your bank account.
Be warned all, if you watch your vehicle being loaded onto a truck by a fellow waving a deposit transfer notice in the air, give it a kiss good bye. It will be all gone, along with the money.
What is disappointing is that this type of scam must have some success, as they keep doing it. What are the authorities doing about it.

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
