Claims I won a $1,000 Target gift card and wants \"winner\" to type in a number provided at TargetWinner.com.

The legitimate store contests off receipts will call winners and/or email them and as with all genuine contests, papers will be mailed/emailed to sign if the prize is over a certain amount (for tax purposes and to verify winner\'s name/address, etc.) and will be required to be faxed/mailed back to contest originator within a set period of time. I know this because I have won a number of real contests. I suspect my husband -- who is fairly new to using computers -- is picking up viruses on his computer since this scam contest popped up on our Internet provider box.

I do enter these store receipt contests every so often and if I ever actually win, I will post the procedure involved to claim the real prize.

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
