And this scammer responded -- the first email was just a short 'is the item still for sale?' type of email. After I responded, the reply back revealed the beginnings of the scam.
The scam seems to be related to getting a person to reveal their paypal info -- though I didn't follow through with the instructions so I don't know the full extant of the scam.
