I received this email after having a conversation already and almost falling for it. I did think it was suspicious the whole time. Especially after this email below. I decided to look up "piano scam" and sure enough they are real. The scary thing is that my work address, name and phone number is in the email reply back to my scammer.

Good day

Sorry for the late response. Im under medication so i don't usually check mails often. The Wurlitzer Baby Grand used to be owned and played by my wife who is now deceased. It was last tuned November of last year before she passed on. I'm moving my properties to California and I don't think my wife will be happy if I sold this piano, at the same time I'm settling to a home of lesser space, so I'm hoping to give it out to someone who is a passionate lover of the instrument. I wasn't going to leave it alone in an empty house.
It's currently in transit with the movers I employed to move my properties from my house. If you really don't mind making new arrangements with the movers, I can attempt to get in touch with them to re-route it. This should not attract too much charges since the distance can be recovered within a day. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but do let me know if you wish that I talk to the movers. Just so you know, I am not giving out a scrap or a waste. It’s in good shape. I also attached pictures of it before it was packed.
Regards,
Prof. daniel hankins

NB: It's in perfect condition, tuned and certified functional by the moving experts.
Also with documents such as proof of ownership and warranty
