Craigslist rental scam—posted an apartment listing with photos pulled from Zillow, claimed the property was unavailable for viewing because the current tenant had just had a death in the family, ultimately asked for a direct deposit of security plus first month's to "hold" the apartment. The name of the supposed landlord (which doesn't match the one on the deed for the property) is Lesvia A Garza Reyes. I was told Ms. Reyes couldn't speak by phone or text but was reachable by email at llesviaagarzareyes@gmail.com.
Follow Ups/Extra Information. Most recent is listed first.
Well Ok, Made a contact with a supposed rental property in N. Easton, MA for a temporary 3-4 month business stay and almost fell for it. Answered the craigslist add and received an email back indicating it would be available. They sent me a lease with bank account information, routing number, the works. AND requested first month and security of additional month. ($3000.00) Looked real enough, came through professional. BUT, I figured I would just double up checking because it was on craigslist. Everything turned out to be false. They used #3 Greenwood Village, Easton, MA 02356, with photos stolen from a realtor site. A tip-off was when I asked for a phone number and actually called and spoke to someone. The guy muffled his voice stating he was waiting for the deposit, and actually said that there was someone else waiting. After attempting to locate the property owner in Bristol, County, MA registry of Deeds, IT was clear enough being a scam. They used North Shore Bank, some poor guy named Felleman from Southerby's of Boston Realtors. SO, watch out for Lesvia A. Garza Reyes or anything close renting near Boston or the south shore of MA.
