| Anonymous Stanford, CA, United States 2013-06-22 19:22:24 Classified Ads Scam Craigslist (craiglist.com) | Interested "buyer" on Craigslist I posted an item for sale on Craigslist. I received a mostly innocuous email from someone (Craigslist hides the person\'s email address) asking if the item was still available, with \"Sent from my U.S. Cellular® Android-powered phone\" at the end of the message. The less-innocent part of the message involved them saying \"Contact me at Alexis27k@gmail.com\". I inserted this address into the To-field, keeping the Craiglist forwarding going. I then received another email, in which so-called \"Alexis Abigail\" deleted Craigslist forwarding, that I have included below. They asked for my full name, address and cell phone number. They said they would send the payment to me in the form of a certified check via FedEx or USPS, and asked that I remove the ad from Craigslist because they were \"highly interested\". They claimed to be out of town visiting family, but seemed to urge trust through references to God and how s/he was a \"God-fearing person\".
Needless to say, I did not respond. |
