| Anonymous Houston, TX, United States 2013-08-12 01:18:40 Overpayment Scam Craigslist (craiglist.com) | +1 individual text messaged me and vehicle I have listed on craigslist This individual contacted me via text msg stating he was very interested in buying a vehicle I have listed on craigslist. He said he was willing to pay the asking price if I could assure him he would not be disappointed. I provided him info about the vehicle and he replied that he was ready to purchase the vehicle. He asked if I had a paypal acct and if so could I provide him the email address associated with my paypal acct. I sent him my email address. Next he text that he needed my mailing address so he could contact a shipping company to get shipping costs for shipping the car to New York where he said he lived. Within a few mins he text me and said he had made the pmt on the vehicle and included $1550 extra for shipping and I should be receiving email from paypal confirming his pmt. He stated the shipping would have to be paid through western union and that was a problem for him (??) so he would need me to pay the shipping. I received an email that looked like it was from paypal stating funds were in my acct from Collins Williams. He texts me again asking if I received the email from paypal showing the funds were in my acct. I told him I got the email but when I checked my paypal acct no funds were in there. He then texts the funds would be be released in my acct once I paid the shipping costs. At that point I ceased texting him I figured out this was a scam. I ignored his repeated requests that I send $ for the shipping. I reported it too paypalspoof.com. His final text was \"did you scammed me?\" All I can say is what a low life trying to rip people off like that. |

Got my phone number from boat trader as he gave details from the site that I only had posted there. I am generally skeptical of emails/text so I googled the phone number and phone the above complaint. I then replied to the text and informed "Robert" that his number was associated with numerous fraudulent complaints online and that if he intended to scam me that he wouldnt get very far......no further texts were received!
