Overpayment Scam
|  +7 Large Mary Kay Order First I received a text saying she found the number on my catalog and wanted my email. I created a new email address just in case and this is what I got:
I need you to place an Order for me and also want to be your new Customer, My Boss would mail you Check for the amount of the TimeWise Repairâ„¢ Volu-Firmâ„¢ Set, the shipping fee and the tax as well since i don\'t operate CREDIT CARD and am a DEAF WOMAN. The table below illustrate my Order. The Check MUST arrive before placing my Order.

A request was in my e-mail to place an order and I had previously seen same scam details on this site under different names.
Scam EmailI Saw your Email on MK Look book, need you to place an Order for me and also want to be your new Customer, My Boss would mail you a Check for the amount of the MK TimeWise Repairâ„¢ Volu-Firmâ„¢ Set, the shipping fee and the tax. I don\'t operate CREDIT CARD and am a DEAF WOMAN. My only method of payment is by sending you a payable CHECK via mail after you give me your information which will arrive to your address in 2 - 3 Business day. The table below illustrate my Order. Mind you, the Check MUST arrive and cashed before placing my Order.

She texted me first and said she found my number off of a book. I do sell MK but havent really marketed for a couple of years so I kind of had my doubts. I did give her my email but was suspicous. Where is she getting the MK consultant list from?

Same as others, I received a text from someone claiming to be Sharon Horton. I actually received the same text twice, once at 9:46am, and again at 1:59pm.
The text said "she" found my phone number from a look book (cosmetics catalog) and requested that I text back with my email address so they could provide more details on what they would like to order. The phone number on caller ID is 720-378-7393. That is a Longmont, CO phone number.
At the time it didn't seem strange because I live a few hours away, so I provided my marykay.com email address.
Today I received the email below. When I saw the mailing zip code is Reston, VA it seemed strange. I have clients all over the country, but if my phone number was on the look book, it would have to be a current customer and I don't know of any in that area.
I called my director and asked if there were any known scams like this and she said YES a lot of them. The company doesn't know where these scammers are getting our consultant phone numbers, but it's definitely a problem. I went to the corporate website and it referred me to email spam@uce.gov for fraud alert responses, which I did.

As the others spoke of - deaf woman contacts me via text about a $200 MK order. I know it is not right, because I DO NOT put my cell phone number on my books. I unfortunately was not fast enough on my feet to create a new email address or give her my MK address.

She contacted me and wanted a large MaryKay order. She claimed her "boss" sent a check that was more than the intended amount. She Asked if I would deposit and send the difference using Money Gram on the same day as I got the check. That's when the red flags went up... checks take a while to clear. Her wording was unusual, and she wanted me to take pity on her for being in the hospital. She only wanted txt messages, she didn't give me a clear address from the beginning, and had 4 different addresses: Houston Texas, Detroit Michigan, Los Angelos California, and Buffalo New York.

Texted me regarding placing an order for the most expensive thing Mary Kay makes, Time-Wise Volu-firm set $199. Told me that they wanted my email address. I gave them my mary Kay email address. Responded by telling me they wanted my personal address. Told them to tell me what the hell they wanted, responded with the Volu-Firm set. Looked up price, told them price with tax and shipping. Didn't hear back after telling me they would PayPal me the money. Then 2 weeks later, received a text saying they had been ill and that her boss would send me the money. Texted me the next day and said the boss had sent me $300 more than the cost, and wanted me to wire them $300 back. Oh and that she trusted me. I just laughed. I blocked her number and never ordered the product for her (them).
