Offered a business check as they were out of area for military / business. Check was received but was an overpayment by nearly $1000. I was then asked to cash the check and they would have movers come pick up the furniture at which time I would also pay the movers the advance payment. Once I notified the sender that I had deposited the check - I was then instructed to wire the additional funds to Mike Kovvalova in Paris Michigan through WalMart.
I was already suspicious of this person when they wanted to send a check, but it became very obvious after that.
Check was from Advantage Metals LLC Fort Laudedale, FL. |

We were contacted via email by Jones Calderon about purchasing a chair we had listed on Craigslist. He wanted to pay an extra $30 to reserve the chair for his purchase. We agreed to that request. Then he said he is out of state, but moving to our state, and therefore needed to have movers pick up the chair. He mailed a check to us via FedEx, and said the check would include extra $ to pay the movers. When check arrived, it included an extra $1100 for the movers! He had a lengthy explanation about the movers picking up items from other properties, etc. We took the check to our bank and are waiting to see if it clears - expecting it will not.
Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
