I was searching for a job in craig\'s list and came across an add looking for a private duty nurse to care for an elderly person in his home. Here is the email I received from Mr. Marcso:

Hello,

Thanks for the response am Alex Marcso am in the process of re-locating to your area with family, as I will be working on a contract basis as a representative of a new Network company in Mexico here in the states doing private research work. I am in need of someone who can take care of my father, clean the house and run some errands for him when necessary. You would only be needed Only 3 days a week for flexible hours (times can vary, these are the earliest and the latest hours total, but some days you won\'t have to come in till 4p.m. and could possibly leave by 5 p.m., but the worst case would be from 2pm to 6pm the latest,if am home earlier, then you can leave.,but am offering $450 weekly which i think is a good offer as compensation, for a trustworthy, and honest candidate.

I already have a financial adviser in the States, who will be handling my affairs. I also have a Personal Assistant, who is helping me with the re-location process. If you accept this position, I will instruct my finance manager to forward to you, by express mail a pay check of $450.00 for your first week payment. If this employment opportunity is acceptable to you, please provide me with the following
information:

Your full name:

Your mailing address:

Your phone number for contact:

Our expected arrival date is Feb 25th but you will be paid $450.00 per week, beginning immediately, as I will have several assignments for you to complete before we arrive, such as checking the apartment, we would be paying for necessary supplies, purchasing what may be needed before our arrival, etc. All we ask from you is honesty and sincerity. And am sure you will enjoy the time you will spend with my Father as he is generous and fun to be with. Will be looking forward to hearing from you, regarding this employment offer.

Sincerely

I emailed him my resume thinking it might be legit. I had some questions about the patient I was going to be taking care of, so I email him back...

To: Mr Marcso,
You offer sounds great, I do however have some questions regarding caring for your father.
1. Are you needing someone who speaks fluent Spanish? I unfortunately do not speak Spanish well.
2. How is your father getting along physically and mentally?
3. Does he have any special medical needs?

I have attached my resume which contains my past work history as well as my contact information. Feel free to contact myself as well as my previous employers. If you desire, I can give you contacts for personal references as well.

Sincerely,

It was several days, So i emailed him again and attached my resume. A few days later I received a check from Star Cities Plumbing and heating Corp located in New York City for $2,790.00. The mailing address from the check matched a yelp ad for an actual plumbing company in New York. There was a Greenville College listed as the return address on the envelope with Cleora Gerado listed as the sender. I checked the Faculty list for Cleora Gerado and no such person was listed. I googled her name and it came up as a name used in a scam. I checked the email address used for Mr Marsco and that came up as a scam also.
