Placed an add on gum tree to sell a boat and received a txt message to email stevenmile1@gmail.com.
I emailed him and he was asking the price which was listed on the add. He then offered me more than I was asking plus PayPal surcharges, and he will be arranging shipping for the boat to be shipped to Malaysia. It sounded strange so I googled his name and found this site warning it is a scam.
Thanks, this site saved me.

Same story. Sent me a text message from my craigslist ad. Asked me the price, but the price was prominently displayed on the ad. He also mentioned the CATEGORY of the item for sale without mentioning the item itself. He wrote: G'day Mate, How much are you asking for your furniture? Reply me to (stevenmile1 AT gmail.com) Thanks Steven. Sent from ipod
When I challenged for him to call me, he insisted he had an "IPOD" rather than a phone and wanted only communications via email. I thought that was odd, but sent email anyway.
His email response was > asking price (first red flag), then the email englsh was broken (second red flag), then wanted pay pal account (third red flag), and he would send a truck to pick up (fourth red flag).
When I googled his telephone number, this scam came up - thank you for this site !

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
