| Anonymous Lisle, IL, United States 2014-03-04 21:40:29 Classified Ads Scam Autotrader (autotrader.com) | +14 Vehicle Transport Kevin Dumais contacted us regarding a vehicle we had for sale on Autotrader.com. He said he needed to pay us via Paypal because he was out at sea. He said that when he contacted the Auto mover, that they would only pick up the vehicle once they received payment so he conveniently included the fee in the amount paid to Paypal. All we needed to do was make the payment through Western Union to Jachius Stewart ($1830). None of this felt right so I contacted Paypal and they verified that it looked like a scam to them. Not to mention there was no money put in our Paypal account and they said it would immediately show up even if there was a hold placed on it. |

the same person contacted me regarding buying a car that I have listed for sale. The car is listed on autotrader.com. he used the same email return address, and asked me to set up a PayPal account to which he would transfer funds. I responded that I would not do so unless I had specific contact information for someone who could vouch for him. Needless to say, I did not hear back from him.

"KEVIN" also contacted us through an AD we had placed in Auto Trader Classics for a vehicle we were trying sell. He said he was buying the vehicle for his Dad and he was an Ocenographer so he couldn't call. He said he pay the asking price of the vehicle and had sent the money through paypal. He said PayPal was putting a HOLD on the money he sent and would only release money if we paid for the movers first - Through Western Union. And send money to
Mover Info: Bre'Onna Cochrane . 45 Pearl Ave SE, Massillon, OH 44646, USA
I knew this was a scam and felt like it was a scam from the first time I read the email, however my boss requested I continue with the transaction as he is wanting to sell his car.
Needless to say the Money that he sent never came through. I feel sorry for people who are dumb enough to fall for this scam.

Same scam as everyone above has already posted, but he is also trying to hack your email address, so reset your passwords and set up a two-step verification for all of your mobile devices!

Well I am thankful for my wife doing just a little investigation. Kevin (Dumbass) Dumais needs to be shut down... I can't believe Autotrader.com hasn't done so already. My wife found endless, recent scams where this guy is doing the same thing. He is buying vehicles for his dad's birthday present (shame on him for using his father}. If my dad were to find out he was being used *#*@%@&* well lets say it wouldn't be pretty. At least he could change up his poor scams a little bit. But no, they're the same damn un-original ads. He says he is an oceanographer from CT on contract and can't leave his post.
When you go to paypal "Seller protection overview" the first red flag is they don't begin the
overview with "Hello YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS .COM" so buyer beware... Do some buyer diligence
and post a review that lets Autotrader.com know that this A**hole needs to know he's a thief, and in the wrong ;{, *!* someone's watching you *!* Mr. Dumbass....
If it seems to good to be true...IT IS!!!
All of his scams include asking the seller to send $1820.00 for shipping plus $180.00 for money gram fees...before paypal will release the money he supposedly has sent to you to buy the vehicle. WELL...it doesn't work that way....do some investigating...you'll see.

This a__hole contacted me also offering the same deal-- PayPal transaction with mover to transport my car. Luckily I did search on Kevin Dumais, and came across this fraud alert. I hope we can somehow shut this a__hole down for good.

I had put a car for sale using Autotrader.com and Kevin contacted me right away, saying that he wanted to buy it for his dad for his birthday. He told me he wanted to use paypal, but I was hesitant to use this sort of payment method. Finally I agreed to use it, but never gave him my email linked to my paypal. He had sent the money with a transaction id and instructions on what to do to an email I was using to converse with him. I called paypal the next day to make sure this was legit and they told me it was a fraud and no transaction id existed. HE had instructions to deliver cash to western union for the movers he included in the fee $1820.00 for the move and 180.00 for the transaction fee. Selers beware. Paypal also told me they start off their payment verication with Dear and then your name mine said HEllo and my email address. Make sure to always call them and verify, but once the money lands into your account they said it cannot be taken out. So once its in its yours.

I got the same sort of thing from Kevin. He told me he wanted to buy the car from his dad for his birthday but was out at sea as an oceanographer so needed to send the money via PayPal. It ultimately turned into this email when I said the money had not hit my account:
Yes the fund will not show in your paypal account yet,it is still on hold at paypal desk, they want you to send the shipping fee up front out of your pocket first and email them the money transfer proof that you have sent the shipping fee after that they will release the total fund to youur account and we can proceed with the pick up date and time, the fund will be released to your online paypal account first before you move it to your bank account,so linking your bank account has nothing to do with this for now,if you are not clear about anything just ask me i will put you through you are been asked to go through the verification process because you are a new member once you do this you will not be asked to something like this in your future transactions,as to what i read from paypal when i asked them why holding funds, they said some people online will just post cars and when buyer make payment and the payment hit their account they will end their conversation with the buyer,so they are trying their possible best to protect all customer buy deducting money from buyer first and hold it for seller to go through a verification process before they release it to the sellers account, so just go ahead and send the shipping fee and email service-paypal@inbox.lv the money transfer proof for verification and the release of your fund.
I will be waiting to read from you as soon as you are through with this ..
Kevin.

I too was contacted by Kevin Dumais regarding a vehicle for sale on Autotraderclassics.com
Gave me a line about being an Oceanographer and out on assignment for next couple of months. Wanted to purchase car for his Dad's birthday coming up and wanted to do it quickly. Said he would have to use PayPal. Was going to arrange for a mover to pick up the car and handle title work for him.
