Rental Scam
|  +2 Room/apartment for rent Sent a text after getting my number from Ayosdito Philippines. Says she is a Spanish national working for the US Coast guard and coming to Philippines to study. Asks for photos and paypal address to send the money as she requires it asap. Agrees to pay the rent and the deposit no problem. Next asks for exact address as needs to get a quote from his movers to send his stuff to the apartment.

I have rental posted on Kijiji that Maria replied to saying same works coastguard agency in USA, from Barcelona Spain. Ithat she want to rent and study and work. ask for details on rent. then replies that she wants my paypal account. I felt something was unusual when she sent a copy of her passport. Why would someone put their passport on an email??
I not sure the validity of it all but I will not give her my paypal account information.

This person sent a text message in reply to a 'house for rent' advertisement I posted at olx.com, saying:
Hello,
I wanna know if this unit is still available for rent ,because i will like
to make immediate rent of it so send me more pictures of it.

I emailed her the same photos of the house posted in the advertisement, and she sent this suspicious email:
Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me. I am a simple, cool and non-smoker
lady. I am willing to rent the unit as I am at sea at the moment as i
am a Coastguard Agency employee in USA but i was Born and brought up
in Barcelona, Spain. I am coming to study and I will work part-time
down there but due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and
visiting of website are restricted. I only squeezed out time to check
this advert and send you an email regarding this. i am ready to rent
it asap so tell me how much is the rent/share per month and how much
deposit do i have to pay. Please send me more period you wish to rent
this out, I have attached my ID Passport with this email for you to
have a view of me and my personal info..

I was immediately wary of her suspicious email and have not contacted her since. Be careful of these scammers who take advantage of good, honest people like us.
