| Anonymous Carlsbad, NM, United States 2014-04-21 18:19:16 Dating Scam Yahoo | Nigerian Romance Scam Scammer solicited contact via chat on Match.com, said he was using his friends account. He lived in CA and I lived in WI. He contacted me once he returned from his \"visit\" with his friend in Chicago and asked if we could chat via Yahoo IM. We began to chat and he immediately used poetry, moved very fast and declared his \"love\" for me. Unfortunately, I took the bait, not knowing about these scams. He said he was a self-employed running Marketing campaigns for companies around the world and travels a lot. About 3 weeks in, he stated he got a huge contract to work in Nigeria for a campaign that should only take a few weeks. The scam started with him needing some \"Artwork\" for his campaign that he couldn\'t find in Nigeria, he found on Amazon, but Amazon won\'t ship to Nigeria. Would I buy and ship to him? A red flag did go up for me at this point, but the art was not that expensive, and he wasn\'t getting any money directly, it made sense, so I did it. The second time was when he needed to forward $2500 to get some US workers to him to work some equipment because the Nigerians did not know how to do it... this I felt very queazy about and resisted quite a bit. He was a very good talker and very persistent, always letting me know how much money he had and was going to make on this project and would pay me back no problem, its just that he couldn\'t get money out of the country. The last time, of course, was when he was supposed to fly him and his daughter to see me, but tried to transfer money from his account to Nigeria, but his bank wouldn\'t allow it. He even gave me his account information where I could see that he had almost a million dollars in the account, so of course, I was assured that I would get the money back. He sent me the flight confirmation from KLM. Only, the day they were to fly out, the booking was cancelled. This is when I did my research and realized I just got scammed. |
