Less than 12 hours ago my husband placed an ad on Gumtree to sell his cars. I received an email this morning from Ronald Condorre who was very interested in said cars. His email went as follows:

I typed his name into a search engine as it seemed off to myself and funnily enough - there he was!

Same scammer
Same Story
Very insistent about using Paypal, despite me saying to pay into my account.
I asked him to send me his ID.
He also said after his normal speil..
I need to inform you about this,I just received an email from my pick up agent headquarter in China...Am most sure i did not include that in my previous email,And they said they won't come for the pick up unless i pay the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time.
I am a Operating Manger as my position on the Rig here,I am so busy and can not pay the agent fees from here as they Requested that i pay them with western union So what i will do here is that i will send the payment in the total amount of 14,600.00 AUD. So once you receive the confirmation of the payment from PayPal,you will deduct the promised amount for the item which is $12,500.00 AUD and the remaining $2,000.00 AUD will be send down to my agent By Western Union.the extra $100 is main for the western union charges.I will like to have your number so i can text you as soon as the payment has been made

Thank you for your email. I should point out at the start that we both have severe misgivings about conducting a sale under these conditions, That is, at arm’s length, sight unseen with no safeguards. This is especially true with an asset of such high value.
We feel there are no elements, which would fulfil the basic requirements of caveat emptor, which states:
“Let a purchaser beware, for he ought not to be ignorant of the nature of the property, which he is buying from another party.†(Caveat emptor, quia ignorare non debuit quod ius alienum emit.)
Failure in this regard could lead to undesirable consequences to the seller, as there are too many imponderables, difficulties and complications, which could arise subsequent to the sale.
I regret to say that we are unwilling to conduct a sale in these circumstances.
Regards
Denis Meehan

I am glad to answer your questions. You mention buying a car. I trust you realise this is a 23 foot Jayco motorhome.
There is no history of accidents or major work. We have recently fitted four new tyres. The only problem we had caused when the hatch of the en suite became clear and the ultra violet caused discoloration of the walls. The hatch was replaced and the entire en suite was also replaced under warranty. There has been no other major work. Awaiting your reply,

Scam EmailWe advertised our Jayco Motorhome on Gumtree and tradervs.com. Within a day or two we received a text message about the sale this resulted in the flow of emails above. Our suspicions were aroused by the following:
1. A large motorhome seems an unlikely graduation present.(He initially referred to buying a car).
2. His inability to make a phone call.
3. His inability to access his bank funds or credit card.
4. His high pressure approach coupled with his offer of $300 to take down the ad.
I have this morning received a text saying \"kindly confirm the firm price and service details for sales to Mr. Craig at crededer at Outlook.com\"
