  | Anonymous Adelaide, South Australia, Australia 2014-07-03 23:47:26 Classified Ads Scam Gumtree |   Annie Snels Scammer Information I was selling a wedding dress on Gumtree and was contacted immediately by this person first through text message, then emails, who said they wanted to purchase the dress but \"work offshore in New Zealand Taranaki Basin on kapo project.\" They said they were keen to purchase but as they work remotely they needed me to help them pay $500 for the courier & freight costs (?) which I could do at my local post office. They then said they had transferred the money through paypal but paypal were withholding it as the sum was so large (??) so I would need to pay the $500 first before Paypal would release the funds into my account. Annie told me that I would receive an email from Paypal to confirm this which might end up in my junk folder so I should check there. Yeah right! The representatives of Paypal state that this is a fraud. Paypal do not withold funds, and their emails would never go to the junk folder. Consider yourself warned! |
