Matt Somewhere in Australia 2014-08-11 09:45:57 Classified Ads Scam Gumtree | Gumtree - Car for Sale - gregfox11@live.com.au
Is your vehicle still for sale?i want to meet for viewing?please Email me with your final asking price to gregfox11@live.com.au P.S Email only. Sounded rather dodgy to me, but as I had just accepted a deposit on the car from a different buyer, I figured I\'d send a courtesy email to \"gregfox\" explaining the situation. I also said I\'d be in touch in case the deal would fall through (not that I really would... because I had other buyers lined up, but still... I like to consider myself a nice guy). A few minutes later I get the following email. Quote: Thanks for the swift response...I am OK with the asking price.due to the nature of my job and location...i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal). If you don\'t have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com.au and sign up.you can alternatively send your bsb and account number you can receive a direct deposit into your bank account from paypal.I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made ...so no shipping included. You can now send me your details so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply.Kindly delete the posting as am definitely buying it from you and it will not be picked up until you have your funds credit to your bank account, kindly help me look into this and get back to me asap.Thanks. I ignored above for a day or two and received two more (indentical) texts from a different phone number (0061447100326 - note the similarities to the original number). Quote: Hiello, is ur advert for your Vehicle still up for sales? Pls do get back to my email crededer at outlook.com with full asking price. I only connected the dots between this text and the previous one because of the reference to the email. Obviously, he didn\'t read/understand my reply, or simply chose to ignore it and try again. After this, I couldn\'t be bothered to reply again. My curiousity got the better of me and I decided to do a quick Google search. Clearly, this is a scammer.
