| Anonymous Somewhere in United States 2015-01-29 22:03:03 Job Scam Craigslist (craiglist.com) | +2 Untitled Job Scam on Craigslist (craiglist.com), ref:22418 I applied for this office job as a personal assistant and then received an email from "Elizabeth" saying I was hired and would only need to work 3 days a week, 4 hours a day for $480/week. She only communicated thru text and email due to some made up hearing injury. She said she sends money to orphanages and within 2 days, overnights me a FAKE certified check through FedEx for $2748.47 and asks me to deposit it into my account and keep my $480 and send the rest to the orphanage thru moneygram. Thank God I found this site and realized it was a scam!!! I Have not reply to her or answer her tex message
I need a job and I thought this was great for me I do not know what to do about this I'm a little scared

I applied to a position on craigs list, and got this totally funny letter... looked up the name on google, and saw the EXACT letter posted to another girl who had applied, except it was signed by a woman, and she said she had a husband and 3 kids instead of a wife and 3 kids.
Why do these people not just get jobs themselves and try to do something good for the world?

Detailed Job Description:
I am looking for a hard working, efficiency, team worker, trustworthy and reliable individual who works well and understands orders. My name is James English 49 years of age will be 50 by 15th of Oct, Am married with 3 wonderful children. I am into Finance, which tends to be my main source of income, which makes me travel around the globe.
I have been a financial planner for over 14 years now, am on making my own personal office which is under constructions and will be accomplished when am back in the state, which you will start working from. I also work for a Financial Research Company too, (HOOVERS) I travel often within and outside of the United States working on various Financial projects. This is why I need someone who can help keep me up to date with all of my activities, especially while I am away and amidst my busy schedule. My previous personal assistant is currently unavailable for health reasons which is temporary position and likely turn out to permanent depends on how efficient hard working you are and work well with orders given, and I am keen on finding an efficient, motivated, organized individual who can communicate well and is able to multi-task.
This position is partly home-based and flexible as tasks will be carried out basically in your area, Working for me for the first week is a test of following instructions to make everything start amazingly which you will also get paid for. I need someone who is able to meet up with me at irregular times. As my Personal Assistant, your activities amongst others will include:
· Creating orders, pick slips, invoices, and credit memos
· Running personal errands
· Scheduling programs, flights, and meetings and keeping me up to date with them
· Dropping off letters via FedEx/USPS
· Meeting up with clients on my behalf (REPRESENTING) and getting things set up
· Making regular contacts and drop-offs on my behalf
· Handling and monitoring some of my financial activities
· You will be working 3 times a week, 4hours a day, so you are bound to choose your working days and hours as it's flexible
· Basic wage is $480 weekly
I am sure you understand how busy my schedule is on a daily basis. Currently, I am in Europe (GERMANY) for a business transactions meeting with business partners. I will be back in three weeks to arrange a formal interview with you. I think you are the right person for this position. Please note that this position is not office-based for now because of my frequent travels and tight schedules. It is a part-time job which doesn't disturb your current working or school because the hours are flexible, and some weeks you will be busier than others, though pay stays constant. I have a lot of work piled up that I will need help catching up on ASAP. I would like to use this coming week to test your efficiency and diligence meanwhile you will get paid, I am hard of hearing due to the auto accident i'd 9months ago, so i usually stay in touch through email/text, I hope that would never be a problem for you and also i can reach you sometimes via my hard of hearing relay call. I am glad you responded to my AD in such a timely manner and look forward to working with you and promise to be a good boss.
As I have said, I'd want us to get a head START with things as soon as possible.I do have lots of works piled up presently and a number of unattended chores which you can immediately assist me with, I hope we can meet up with the workload eventually. Permit me to use the coming week to test your efficiency and diligence towards all this, also to work out your time schedule and fit it to mine. I really need to find the perfect person for this job, I'm confident you can take up the challenge and on the long run we should have a relatively sound working relationship between us.. A payment inform of a Bank Certified Check/Money Order will be sent over to you from my financial manager and i have some lists to email you once we are good to go. You will make some arrangements by buying some stuff for the kids in the Orphanage at any nearest store around you which you will be given list of stores to visit and things to buy, so you can mail them out. I just received this fake email today and I had recently been scammed in a similar situation so I did research to see what I could find. Luckily I searched her email and this website came up. The link below is to her faulty ad on craigslist.com. The whole thing is fake thank goodness I knew what to look for.
