| MATT Danvers, MA, United States 2012-04-24 15:30:21 Classified Ads Scam Craigslist (craiglist.com) | +1 OFFSHORE WORKER SCAM TEXT MESSAGED ME ABOUT MY CAR AD, ASKS BEST PRICE AND THEN AGREES TO THE ASK PRICE, WANTS TO PAY FULL AMOUNT WITH PAYPAL SINCE WORKING OFFSHORE ON RIG. SAYS WILL ARRANGE PICK UP. NOT SURE HOW THEY SCAM, BUT I GUESS THEY USE HACKED PAYPAL ACCOUNTS, OR ARE PHISHING FOR INFO.
MY RULE IS IF YOU CANT MEET THE PERSON FACE TO FACE AND GET CASH OR GO TO A MAJOR LOCAL BANK FOR A CASHIERS CHECK, THEN FORGET IT, LET THEM PROVE THEY ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE WITH ID REFRENCES ETC, BEYOND ANY DOUBTS. |

I received the same message about my ebay car ad. They used a google number 347-974-0429.
