| Dating Site SCAM -- Sydow Adolfus Henrik I was contacted by this person from Chemistry.com. He requested that I contact him @ his private e-mail, said he was closing his acct on Chemistry.com. Represented himself as a 62 yo widowed, retired CardioThoracic surgeon, Swedish-American who now designs standards hospitals & medical centers. He vigorously pursued relationship for 6wks -- we never met, but spoke on phone & texted, as well as email communication, with pictures. He wrote long, fairly well written e-mails, comparable to his "profession". Stated that he was traveling to South Africa for about 2wks for "business". After 1wk in "South Africa", he sent me an e-mail, stating that he had been "robbed @ gunpoint" & "his driver had been shot, but survived". Stated all belongings in briefcase were stolen, including wallet & passport, in addition to other "personal items". Shortly thereafter, within 12-18 hrs, he called me & asked me to "help him out" until he receives his money from his "Swedish bank"-- he asked me to wire $5000 to him, which I declined. I offered $300 --$500. Eventually, he asked me to money gram $500 to Linda Soldaat, Capetown South Africa. I pressed him for an address: 58 PARK ROYAL ON PARKLANDS MAIN, TABLEVIEW 7441, CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA. I then googled the address & eventually found an entry on this site (SCAMDEX) with 84 Park Royal, instead of 58 Park Royal & a different name, but otherwise, similar story including Chemistry.com. The person obviously sent money & was duped. Luckily, I did some research, found this site & I DID NOT SEND THE MONEY. Whoever wrote the 50+ e-mails to me, over 6wks, was very convincing in conveying fake emotions & I was lured in. There were many phone calls "I love you" text messages as well -- some from a South African international phone that he supposedly used upon his arrival to Capetown -- that # was 011 27 71 226 3800. THANK YOU TO WHOEVER POSTED THE FIRST WARNING IN 3-2014!!!! |
