I received a text message sent from a hidden number but with the tag Terry explaining he has seen my car on a sales page and asking for me to email him with more pictures. I did so and a conversation ensued in which he quickly asked to pay the full amount by paypal and have a shipping agent collect the car and also for me to keep an eye on my email for the paypal confirmation. Seeing as he also asked for me to remove the advert from the website (nice touch) I requested he make a payment of £1 as a deposit. He refused as it would incur further charges and I countered that he could pay the full amount if he liked but I would need it to clear into my bank account before I proceeded. I then received another email in a different font (copy and paste job) launching into an extensive story which in a roundabout way asked that I transfer money via Western Union to cover freight costs, all of which he would cover in his full payment on paypal. I assume he next would have sent a faked paypal email informing me funds had been received. I informed him that this was not my first rodeo and I would pay jack all towards his costs. However, because I am nothing if not polite, I did invite him to view my car any time he likes should he wish to get out of the scamming game and buy a nice MG.

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
