I could tell the person wasn't local so asked many questions over a couple of days.
This was her first email to me.
"hi is ur wedding dress still for sale?pls advice on ur price with present condition and email me (kattym455@gmail.com) for quick reply"
Then
"Thanks for mailing back,am ok with the price and the condition,i'll be coming soon from our rig as am a petroleum project engineer on a rig offshore,i won't be able to come for the inspection due to the nature of my work,i would have love to call in person but we have call restriction due to bad weather condition our satellite server has been down.i will be paying you through PayPal or transferring the money from my paypal wire bank transfer to your bank account, pls get back to me with your PayPal details or bsb bank details, so i can proceed with the payment into any of the two and contact the courier agent who will come to pick it up and deliver it in my place.Await your reply"
I sent her/him heaps of photos (lucky none with my face), but thank goodness I didn't send any banking or Paypal details.
I was almost ready to give my details, when we googled some more information on her name and I was so thankful that she had previously been reported here under a different spelling and different email account. Her story and wording was exactly the same:

I'm selling on Gumtree and have had the exact same experience as mentioned here. This person Natasha Savva, used the name nata for short texted and asked me to send her/him an email regarding to the "laptops" that I'm selling, I thought something was fishy. I should have checked here first before I went ahead and sent this person an email asking which laptop they want.
Next, the respond email didn't answer my question but instead going on about buying the laptop as a surprise birthday gift for their nephew. And that they're working "offshore" as an "oceangrapher" which is why they cannot make calls coz of bad signal. I wasn't surprised to learn it later here, that the email was just a copy and paste with their content modified.
I asked the scammer to use bank transfer, which I have (naively) provided my account number after they said they'll buy all of my laptops for sale (yay?)
The next thing was, I received an email from Paypal service saying that I have received a payment from Natasha Savva for X amount of money and even detailed the transaction into merchandise payment and postage payment. I found it funny coz Paypal had never done that, not to mention listing the account details of which the money was sent to (my bank account)
What's funny was I shut down that Paypal account years ago when I spotted several unauthorised transaction on it. I told the scammer that your fund is risk but I don't think they actually sending me any money anyway.
LESSON I've learned is, if someone texted you about your Gumtree item and asked to email them back. NEVER do that, they're scamming you, your time, your money and even phishing your personal data, such as bank account details. Just as how this person grab my my bank acc details to write a fake paypal emails.

I regularly post on gumtree.com. This was the second scam mail I’ve been sent so I knew when a number named ‘natash’ came up (who wasn’t in my contacts list), something was afoot.
I received the usual message that gumtree scammers use ‘hi could you please email price and condition to...’
The email was natash2018@gmail.com. Like I said this is the second time it has happened so I didn’t even reply. But the first time it happened was for a $600 sale so I was not as wise. Here are some ways to spot a scammer:
1. Their name comes up instead of an unknown number, despite not having that name saved as a contact
2. When you attempt to message or call, it doesn’t go through.
3. When you try to check what the mobile number is, there isn’t one.
4. When you email back they will make an excuse ‘I live very far away’ or ‘I work in mines’ ‘there is bad reception’
5. They will only deal with you through PayPal (any invoice or receipt you receive will be fake- CALL PAYPAL FIRST. THERE IS NO PENDING TRANSACTION)
6. PayPal does not use western union. The buyer will insist on it.
7. If you’ve gotten so far as exchanging details, the buyer will pressure you to western union ‘I am busy.’ ‘I am leaving reception area soon’ to try and make you go sooner.
8. If they do send you proof of ID- LOOK CLOSELY you can tell that the font is edited on there if you look at your own for comparison.
In short, even if you trust a website, some people are dodgy assholes.

Advertised my wedding dress. Not sure why any scammer would want a second hand wedding dress. Can someone tell me are they after identity info?
This was the first time in 2015 I also got approached again just recently in 2017 by 'Natasha Savva' natash2018@gmail.com who I assume is the same person or part of the same group. This time it was for my couch also advertised on Gumtree.
