Overpayment Scam
|  +1 Rent apartment Scam She sends SMS to say she wants to rent apartment but suggest reply by email. [NOTE: her SMS cannot be replied to as no phone no. is shown]. In email she says she is a doctor on board cruise ship and wants to rent apartment. She emails a copy of her purported passport (Henan, PRC) and says she wants to pay 3 months rent via paypal as evidence of rental required by here employer and customs (!).
She then email to say that she had sent the money but sent more than the required sum as she wants me to pay the shipping agent with the extra money via western union. The payee details show a person in Beijing - not a shipping agent company.
From paypalonlineservice@mynet.com [fake!] I am advised that e-check has been sent to my paypal account - to be cleared in the next few days and will advice me upon clearance. [paypal does not deal in e-check]

Similar to the rest, she claimed to be a non smoker chinese female working on cruise ship n wanted to rent a room via sms. She didn't want want communicate via sms but only email (checked her tel number, only have 6 digits). Ignored my questions n only seems to be in hurry n wanted to make payment to me for 3 months in advance plus a month deposit for my room. During initial email, also asked about my personal information n wanted only paypal transaction to try to convince me the safety of the transaction. Luckiky i checked her email via internet n discovered her scam trick. Here i shall this to alert others not to be "blind" by money. If the deal is too good to be true, u must really be more careful. Thanks.

ship and I have limited time to surf the internet but I will find time
to call you. I will like you to kindly calculate the total cost
covering my first 3 months’ rent together with deposit but I will be
staying long as soon as your room is available. I will also like you
to kindly get back to me with some pictures of the room and your
address for me to forward it to my mover agent to calculate the total
cost of moving my stuffs to Singapore.I had attached a copy of my
passport for you to have a picture of me. I will be waiting to read
back from you.

Hi, Thanks for replying. Do u intend to rent the room by yourself or willing to share room?
Some info on my house,
We have 3 rooms (Master Bedroom n 2 common rooms). As of now, my family has just shifted back n staying in the master bedroom (w 2 kids). One of my common room was rented out to a Chinese couple from Jilin, China.
For rental, $750 per month. 3 months rental plus deposit would be ($750 x 3 + $750) = $3000/-
Can i send u photo via whatsapp or sms? I am not so good w gmail.

Hello,
Many thanks for getting back to me again. I am very social person that
respect humanity and this make it so easy for me to get along with
whoever that comes my way in life. I am arriving on 20th of November
and start working in Singapore. I will be securing the room by
transferring the rent to you through PayPal and if you do not have a
paypal account kindly set up an account with them in less than 5
minutes on www.paypal.com. I would have requested for your bank
details but for the safety of you and i with giving bank details
online, I prefer going through PayPal. I will be so happy to secure
the room as soon as you get back to me with the PayPal money request.
All you need to do is to log into your PayPal and click request money,
you will then send the money request of total 3 months rent to my
email address for me to transfer the money. I will like to pay in
advance through PayPal and my reason is that, I will be presenting the
proof of my rent payment to my employer and also to the immigration at
the port of entry into Singapore.
