Similar to the last post/report, this alleged gumtree "buyer" offered more than the asking price for a used car we'd advertised, which first aroused our suspicion. He emailed to advise he was currently working offshore so could not call but requested our PayPal/payment details and that he would arrange a courier if we took down the listing straight away. Needless to say combination of requests/required actions did not sound trustworthy so we did not proceed with email communication any further. We are reporting this as we would not like to think that someone more trustworthy/less life experience might fall for whatever potential scam is attempted.
Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
