| Anonymous Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 2016-02-03 11:11:04 Classified Ads Scam Other Classifieds Site | +1 Grant Abbott - Carsales Scam Advertised my car for sale on carsales.com.au and Grant Abbott contacted me via phone expressing interest in my car. After I responded he replied with the following:
"Thanks for getting back,i'm cool with the price likewise the condition as described on the advert,i work with New Zealand Oil and Gas (NZOG) and we are presently offshore in New Zealand Taranaki Basin on kupe project. We do not have access to phone at the moment and that's why I contacted you with internet messaging facility.Regarding the payment,i will be paying you through PayPal linked up with my westpac bank account, please get back to me with your paypal details so i can process the payment, you can alternatively send your bsb acct name and number if you have no PayPal acct.I have also contacted my courier who will come for pick up and deliver it to my place in Darwin after the whole fund has been cleared into your acct.
Await your reply"
And after investigating this immediate 'too good to be true' scenario, I typed in 'Grant Abbott NZOG' and this site (Scamdex.com) came up with the same scam report.
Anyway, thought I would report this to your website to warn others as it only seemed like the correct thing to do as it was www.scamdex.com that warned me in the first place.
Thanks guys. |

After advertising a car for sale i received a text message from Grant Abbott. The message requested that i reply to him via email if the car was still available and asked what was our best price. I sent an email and the reply include word for word the same content as other people have reported here via this website. What a scam. No wonder we were uneasy with the concept of providing our account to someone who was sending a courier to pick up the car and transport to Darwin. Be aware When it sounds too good to be true!!!
Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
