I was suspicious when he asked for my bank details within minutes of contacting me...looks like he was going to do an over payment / fake receipt scam. I asked him for photo ID before I divilged my bank account details - strangely I have not heard back from him...surprise surprise. |

I have a motorcycle for sale, and this chap claims to be interested in buying it. But he wants all my bank account details, and says that the courier company that he contacted will sign the transfer of ownership on his behalf. Obviously a scammer, please don't let anyone be taken in by this.

The alleged Bradley Rogers of Energy Resources of Australia at it again - this time responding to an add for a 1990 Celica Coupe - just the type of vehicle you'd need in the harsh mining terrain of the NT
Scam EmailThanks for getting back,I'm fine with the price likewise the condition as described on the advert,
I work on a remote mine site, Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) Darwin,NT and the reception is terrible. We do not have access to phone at the moment, which is why I contacted you with internet messaging facility. Where is it located at the moment?Does it have any history I should be aware of? and why are you selling if you don't mind my asking.I am already in talks with the courier that will handle the pick-up and delivery.
As regards the payment, I can pay you through direct bank deposit (EFT),using paypal instant bank wire transfer service, I will need your bank details and I will make the payment through paypal facility to your bank account, all I will need is your acct number,BSB number and acct name.
With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the freight agent so you don't have to worry about that.

heres my reply
Hi Bradley
wow - sight unseen you want to buy the car
if you can provide me with your credit card details
- photo id - blood type - finger prints, dental records, and DNA -
then we have a deal
-by the way - your really famous on car sales - seems you've tried to buy
lots of cars
-Boy I wouldn't have thought a celica coupe would be the vehicle of choice on a mining site in the NT but then you never know

Same deal.
Bradley messages me with email address saying he's interested and to contact his email. I replied to him and he sent me an email just like those you see below. He must be pressed for time coz he's copied and pasted it to a bunch of people, so I decided to reply to it...
Hi Bradley,
That’s not a problem at all I can understand working on remote sites has its challenges. First of all if I were you I would fire your receptionist, nobody should have to put up with terrible reception in the workplace.
Lucky for you that ERA have internet messaging facility on your mine site, so you may keep contact with loved ones and make purchases. Limited time on the computer can be a bit stressful though – maybe you could ask your supervisor for a bit more time on the computer and tell him to stop being a micro-manager. Then you wouldn’t have to copy and paste responses all the time.
The vehicle is located in my driveway at the moment. You asked about the vehicle history,
The Holden Commodore (VT) is a full-size car that was produced by the Australian manufacturer Holden from 1997 to 2000. It was the first iteration of the third generation of this Australian made model and the last one to be powered by a locally made V8 engine (1999). The VT Series II (VT II) was released in 1999, and my car has the super awesome LS1 Generation III, 5.7litre V8 engine. I once did a burnout that went for a week !
As my advert details I would like to sell it for $3800, but you sound like a nice bloke so I am happy to negotiate price over email, let’s say $3799? Do you have any specific questions about the vehicle’s performance and service history?
With the issue of my details, I don’t have a PayPal account so I am unsure how to carry out an instant wire transfer. I can set up an account today, what is your PayPal name? Please let me know quickly because I am very keen to sell my car and time is running out.
I appreciate you taking care of the vehicle transfer, thank you so much. I always worry about these things and because of your generosity I will offer to pay for the transfer. Normally this costs about $200, however if you reply in the next 10 minutes I will pay this fee directly to your bank account for free and can email you a receipt. Because this is for a vehicle transfer fee my bank will only transfer to credit card accounts. So to get your $200 quickly I will need your 16 digit credit card number, your CVC number (3 digit number on the back), and the 4 digit expiry on the front for verification.
As soon as I pay you $200 I will need to confirm the freight agent company name so I can authorise transfer of registration from VicRoads for you? Please hurry, I am receiving more calls for my car each hour, time is running out and you don’t want to miss this great deal.
Best Regards,
James

Carsales.com.au
Scam EmailScammer had the same modus operandi as the others.
Uses dsky0936@outlook.com & sent me photo ID from dsky0936@gmail.com using what looks like a legit QLD drivers licence in the name of Bradley Roger Connor of Kuranda QLD
Responded to my car sales advert trying to buy my car from interstate without negotiating price or wishing to inspect it. Said they worked for a remote site for Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) Darwin,NT and claimed they had no mobile signal. So there was never a contact number provided. only email address dsky0936@outlook.com (and dsky0936@gmail.com) and then when requested sent me a QLD drivers licence for Bradley Roger Conner to my surprise. That prompted me to research the scam and its common. Then i found this thread. So felt compelled to post. Its possible the scammer has stolen this person's ID. I have notified Carsales.com.au and provided the full information from the DL to notify the QLD government.
The scammer tried to get my bank details and say they can only pay using pay pal wire money transfer.
