Got a message on OfferUp from a "Mandy" about my reptile tank that I was selling. She asked me to email her "husband" about all the information on my tank, so I emailed him and soon received an email from another email address, but the name read Mandy White on my listing even though I hadn't put it in my contact list. We talked for a while about pricing and shipping, Mandy eventually stated that she was to send me a check and deduct my $550 and then send the remaining amount to her private shipper who was located in Texas. However, there were many key pointers that it was a scam as she mentioned her secretary, how she was suddenly "hospitalized", how she was traveling to Texas to see her mother, etc. Mandy originally contacted me about the tank for an anniversary gift, however she never mentioned her anniversary again. Ended up calling Mandy after receiving a text from "her" only for a man with a clear Nigerian accent to pick up the phone. He was using a google number so it couldn't be tracked. The check is supposed to arrive in my PO box in a few days but I'm not expecting it to go through, thankful I didn't give her my actual information.

Told me she was buying my computer for $550 for her anniversary in a week and that her secretary would mail me a bank check. Check gets here and it's for $1,340 and she tells me to pass the excess and the computer to a shipper for her. I decided to see if the check cleared, given it was a certified bank check it should've cleared almost instantly but it was still on hold. Definitely a scam, glad she didn't get a penny, however I did still deposit the check which worries me.

This person did the same to me. She tried messaging me from Facebook trying to buy something from me because she was getting married in two weeks and that her secretary was going to message me via. I was gullible enough to send her my info and she sent me a check from FedEx. What was weird is that she send me to much money for what I was selling my item for. I was selling it for $150. She sent me $1,100. I started to realize that things were getting sketchy so I went to the bank were that check came from. From there on, the teller at that bank told me that it was a fraud and that I couldn't cash it out. It was kinda of a relief because I didn't give him my bank account info. But not at the same time as well because she has my info. Is something capable to happen anytime soon or in the future? Here are the 2 phone numbers I got messaged from. +1 (443) 300-7693 And +1 (917) 663-5719

I am selling an item on Facebook and she wanted me to email her so I did :( Anyway I came back to facebook and they had removed her message at that point because she is not a verified account . I hope "she" cant do anything with me just sending an email with no personal info other than my name which is on facebook anyway.

I was lucky enough not to be scammed by this person. They private im'd me about my wedding dress and I was highly suspicious after she said she was married already and wanted to communicate via email only. I looked up their e-mail address and it was linked to many other scams. I have since blocked their profile.
