Coleen Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 2012-07-03 09:00:23 Identity Theft | Operations Clerk
I was asked to complete an application form - in the application form I was told i must provide a copy of my High School Certificate. I emailed to say i don\'t have it available and could i provide a copy my Business Studies Results instead. This is the reply I received: Dear (first name only), In order for us to move ahead in our selection process, could you please complete Application Form attached and return it to us. Thank you for your cooperation. Regards, Victoria Fisher Iconix Ltd. Headquarter: +64 9889 4336 The following morning i received an email telling me that I had been selected for the role of Operations Clerk with two attachments - An Employment Agreement AND A Form for Bank Account Details Dear (my first name AND surname) , Congratulations on being selected as our new Operations Clerk. I hope that you will accept our offer and that the salary offer is commensurate with your expectations. The decision was a tough one since many qualified people were being considered. However, your creativity and enthusiasm won out over the others. I personally feel that the right choice was made. What Is the Next Step? 1. Employment Agreement: fill-in, print, sign, scan and send it back. 2. Account Form: fill-in and send it back. 3. Identity document*: scan and send it back. * - To verify your identity you have to send us a scan of your ID, passport or DL. You may use scanner/digital camera/web camera. Your document will only be used for verification purposes and will be stored in a secure area. My best to you in this new undertaking. Regards, Victoria Fisher Iconix Ltd. Headquarter: +64 9889 4336 When I looked at the Employment Agreement is was \'signed off\' by the HR Person and stamped with \"Iconix\" .. something was NOT right i felt so I did not reply. Comparing both emails there was a discrepancy in spelling but whoever is doing this has humans replying to email inquiries. Email address used is not one that I have been using when applying for work - Raised a question mark The Application Form didn\'t have a Logo so yet another question mark for me came up as to if this was a genuine offer Differing spelling of my name - RED FLAG When I read through the Employment Agreement there were a few things that were NOT correct under the guidelines of the Fair Work Act 2009 NES AUST - RED FLAG Today i rang the number provided and was routed to an Asian Answering Service - yet ANOTHER RED FLAG When going back to the emails i then realised there were no corporate signatures with Logo as is the usual practice of pretty big companies - RED FLAG The Website also appeared professional upon first glance but when I looked more closely it was registered in 2012 - RED FLAG This evening I sent an email back to this \"Victoria\' to call me \'direct\' on my mobile number to discuss things further. I DO NOT expect to get a call! All in all I can only say I am grateful i kept digging until i found your website. My instincts told me that this was a serious case of attempted identity theft. How rotten that people do this when times are so tough and people like myself, are genuinely seeking home based employment. Keep up your fine efforts. If I could report this to anyone else to have these people caught i most certainly would. |
