| +3 Apartment Scam-Paris/Marais Hi David,
Sorry about the late response. Pleased to read from you and thanks for your interest. My apartment is still available for both short/long renting so its available for your period and move in period. A little more about the apartment, its located inside a 17th century residence with trees and calm. I can honestly say that its among the safest and calmest area in Marais. The surface is 580 sq. feet / 55 m2 and much suitable for a maximum of 4 adults. Its on the first french floor of the building and it has an elevator as well. its fully furnished as you can see in the pictures. Its 860 EUR per month. All Utility bills are inclusive of the rent these include internet, gas, electricity, heating and also there is a washing machine, air conditioner, t.v cable, telephone but for national calls only, dryer, dish washer. I am at present in Aberdeen, United kingdom that is why i want to rent the apartment. I used to work for Honeywell in Paris but was transferred to Honeywell international united kingdom two weeks ago so i have decided to rent it.
Well, to proceed you are to pay a security deposit fee of 860 EUR which is refundable on move out date if the apartment is in order. Also you are to pay the months rent of 860 EUR together with the deposit to make it 1720 EUR. I must state categorically that my major concern is getting the right person to maintain the standard of my apartment and keep it clean and tidy as always.
Kindly get back to me with the following details ok

Received the same e-mail as that posted above but was written by a "Martinus Rodger" even though the email address is Martinus Jansen. I only found it was a scam by searching the phone#, as it doesn't seem to change even when the identity does. I became suspicious when they asked for 1st month's rent up front, as most vacation rental agencies have you pay upon arrival. Also, the apartment is MUCH too inexpensive for the area. A 20 square-meter studio goes for 1100 euro in the same area. A huge 1 bedroom at 860euro was too good to be true.

Advertises an apartment in the Marais, 8 rue St Paul. It's obviously not Christoph Volker, that's just soem poor bastard who was probably scammed previously and gave up some details like a passport pic. I suspect I will be the next as I also provided ID.
The apartment looks lovely in the photos and he will ask for the rent and a security deposit (presumably via wire transfer) and will send the keys DHL.
It's at this point that I twigged to the fact he was most likely a Nigerian scammer in the UK. He does not have a Swiss accent, and sounds drugged or hung over on the phone. The emails were pretty well written, and are probably cut and paste jobs.
If one were to send the money, I'm sure that would be the last heard of poor Christoph Volker.
Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
