I advertised my car for sale through Gumtree. I got a text message from the above number to say he/she was interested in my car - to contact him [ Ken ] at k.wellson@yahoo.com
I made the contact by email and got back the following mail...\"Hi,thanks for your response. I would have love to come for the inspection but due to the nature of my work i won\'t be able to do that as am a petroleum engineer and am on a rig offshore. Am buying it for my holiday cos I\'ll be coming soon from our rig. I have gone through the advertisement and am satisfied with it. I want you to come down by few pounds and then tell me the last price you want to sell it to me,as am really ready to buy it. I await your immediate reply.\" I then gave him a price and he came back to say that\'s great I\'ll pay by Paypal etc. that he worked on an oil rig and would soon be going on holiday...that couriers would pick the car up.
I did not let him get any further with the scam. Thought about the name wellson . Cheeky...wells son, oil rig, oil \'well\' then looked up your site. Needless to say I emailed him back with plenty of really big pictures to download and then warned him not to fall off his oil rig.
Follow Ups/Extra Information. Most recent is listed first.
I had advertised my car for sale on www.mobile.de I had a response from this person saying she wanted to buy the car for her son as a wedding present. She was willing to pay ASAP via PayPal. I wanted a cash deal but was told she works as a petroleum engineer and was currently offshore and couldn't get to a bank. After a couple of more correspondents she was asking for my PayPal account address and she had a courier arranged to come pick it up when I confirmed the payment was made. I was very suspicious as she was so eager to make the payment without me passing on too much detail about the car. I asked some easy to answer questions like your name, address, country the car is being exported too and to phone me. I didn't get any of these answers and told her I think your a scammer. She hasn't replied.
