Six hours after posting it, I received an inquiry:
retacool2003@gmail.com ✆ via craigslist.org
to chdvk-32168151.
** CRAIGSLIST ADVISORY --- AVOID SCAMS BY DEALING LOCALLY
** Avoid: wiring money, cross-border deals, work-at-home
** Beware: cashier checks, money orders, escrow, shipping

Still Available?

The reply-to email address was: j1979y@gmail.com. As most people know by now, the reply-to email address should be the same as the email address used to reply to the ad on Craigslist. I Googled both email addresses, and both came up with multiple hits as a scammer.
Another tip-off for spotting scammers is the shortness of their query. There\'s no mention of the item, or the cost, or if there\'s haggle room, or if you\'re going to be around for them to look at it. Real people don\'t sound like Nigerians.
retacool2003@gmail.com was very active on Craigslist last month, disappeared for about a month, and is now back. It pays to Google before responding. |

I was selling a 1985 blazer and "Mick Todd" contacted me with the following:
"Still available?
sent via blackberry by atnt"
i told him yes he then replied with:
"Am very sorry for the lateness reply ,, I really appreciate your
response to my email. I want you to consider it sold, Pls do withdraw
the advert from CL to avoid disturbance, anyway I don't have time to
come over to take a look because of my Business but you don't need to
bother yourself with the shipment, I'll take care of that by engaging
the services of a shipper, hence I'll be sending a Certified check and
it will be delivered to you via United Parcel Service (UPS), so I'll
need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate
the mailing of
the check.
Full name on the check.
Full Physical address to post the check
City, State and Zip Code
Home & Cell Phone to contact you.
Note that the payment will be shipped to your address via UPS NEXT DAY
AIR SERVICE and I will like you to know that you will not be
responsible for shipping i will have my shipper to come over as soon
as you have cashed the check*
N.B UPS does not deliver to a P.O box addresses. Thanks"
I thought it was too good to be tru, but i still continued with it.. wondering why he never gave me a phone number..
here is the rest
"Hello. Thanks for your email ,i will need your honest and trust to end up this
transaction..I will like to know if i can trust you with my money
because am sending you a check and the payment will be made out
immediately i heard from you. I will provide the tracking # as soon as
it as been sent out, "More so" i'm including the shipment funds in the
amount on the check because i don't have time to come down for a look
of the items but as soon as the check is cashed in your bank, you will
deduct your own money for the item plus extra $30 for yourself as
running around fee and you will get the remaining money to the mover
that will come for the pick up for me ....Thanks for your mail and
understanding once again, and i will be get back to you with the
tracking num
Thanks"
then he sent
"Hello,
How are you doing today? I am glad to read from you. please try to
alert me as soon as you receive the check so that i will contact my
mover to come for the pick up at your door step okay thanks.Hope to
read back from you soonest."

BEWARE!!
Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
