| Anonymous Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 2012-11-22 04:30:38 Classified Ads Scam Other Classifieds Site | +6 Ad scam David Edmond started this scam using the e-mail address daves1516@gmail.com. It has now changed to cherlstokes221@gmail.com. I have passed this information onto my telephone service provider who said they will pass it along to the authorities. The company I placed the classified ad with Just Car\'s said they can do nothing to stop the SMS spams. Don\'t think the authorities will or can do much about it. Unfortunate that there are people in in Australia like this. Give me 5 minutes alone with this person(s). |

I had a car advertised on gumtree and received a text msg asking what the present condition and final price of my gumtree listing also advising that the best way to contact is via their email: Lisariediger@outlook.com
I replied via an email then received one back about an hour after, saying that she was buying it for her son who just graduated charles darwin uni and due to strict no phone policy and due to bad weather where she works she could not be contacted, but if i could either send my bank details or my paypal details she would pay into there and her agent would arrange pick up.
Hmmm i'm not in that bigger rush to sell thank you very much.

Just had an SMS in response to my motorbike for sale ad on Gumtree. Pretty lazy scammer now as they didn't even ask anything specific to what I was actually selling.
SMS: "Sent from: Jess What's the present condition and final price of your Gumtree listing, best way to contact me is via my email: jssbiak7030@outlook.com"

Hi mate, thanks for your response regarding the bike. I would love to know the present condition of the bike and final sales price. My private shipping company pickup agent will be coming for pickup of the bike after payment has been made and cleared. I will be paying via PayPal or direct deposit to your bank account using my Upgraded Merchant PayPal account as this is secure and very fast. Its pretty easy to setup an account with PayPal from their web http://www.paypal.com.au/ if you do not have one already. I will look forward hearing back from you. Thanks
Regards
Damien

I have lodged a motorbike for sale on Gumtree 17th Feb 2013.
A text came through via an Australian mobile phone number 0428 465 117
So I googled the email address that was included and a photographer by this name came up with his own websites, twitter and Facebook. To follow up I thought I'd Google the phone number with a different result..looks like you need to be a detective when trying to sell anything online..

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
