E-mails are sent very vague and at odd hours. Almost like they are waiting for you to log in before sending you the e-mail. Then they offer close to asking and start working the "pick up agent" angle, etc. "I'm not from (wherever). I need to use a pick up agent".

Texts sent claiming he was buying the RV for an uncle and needed more pictures and PayPal account information. He was acting a bit rushed so I put the brakes on it until I did some research. I think it is the same scenario as above.

I am also trying to sell an RV on Craig's List in South FL.
Four hours after adding my post my wife received a text showing interest. I google the number and it is in NYC.
Nearly the same story... Quote is my words as his english was not very good. "I am in the military. I am at a Military Camp and can only communicate via email and text...no voice until I'm outta here. I'm buying this for my father as a surprise. I want you to send more pictures to make sure it is in good shape."
So...I take time and send a bunch of pictures. The next day he tells me that it looks good and "Let's proceed with the transaction on the item".
A few flags...1. I was in the Navy for 8 years and have never heard anyone say "Military Camp" 2. Why buy from FL for a NY drop off? 3. Why can you text but not call? 4. Ignored questions of a personal nature...just focused on a fast purchase.
So I searched for RV scams on Google and found this thread...THANK YOU!
I decided to play along to see if it was identical and it nearly was. Difference was that he told me the transfer agent would cost $2,950 and that he was going to include it in his PayPal payment and that I would then have to pay the Agent. I then called the FBI but they would not help as we have not been ripped off yet (and won't be). I'm not sure how he would have gotten that $2,950 from me but I'm not going to find out.
I told Rafel (how he spelled his name) to PayPal me the money for the RV only...and figure out the Agent on his own. I will not sell it any other way. He has not responded to that.
So...was it a scam? I would bet my life on it but I can't prove it. I hope my post helps someone else in the future and am very grateful that someone before me told their story. I believe this may be the same person. Thank you again and I hope my post helps someone else in the future.
