I received an email from a Sanlam "Accredited provider" offering me a loan at 2.5% interest rate. I indicated that I was interested and so they emailed me the application. After going through the application process, I took a while to get the documents scanned and back to them. Thats when I started receiving a lot of "Private number" phone calls - obviously the scammer was chasing me for the application. I eventually sent the docs but I was very wary. Ofcourse I got almost immediate approval but the deal is you need to pay an initiation sum of R4,850.00 upfront before receiving the loan money! Thats when i knew it was a scam. Before I could even decline on email i got numerous "Private number" calls on my mobile. When I did pick up, it sounded like an african lady who announced she was from Sanlam. I told her I didnt think her offer was legit and so she said "Ok, please feel free to go through your verification process and call us back". What a lot of junk! I really hope they are not scamming too many people....
