Received a text, from Cathy, indicating an interested in renting a room in my home, asking me to reply via email.

Email as follows:
Thanks for responding so quickly,my name is Catherine.I am an American citizen and 28 years old non smoker lady coming to Australia. I work as chef on a cruise ship in China at the moment and i have limited time to surf the internet and also phone calls is also strictly limited due to nature of my work.I will like you to calculate the total cost covering my first six months rent together with bond. I will also like you to get back to me with your home address for me to forward it to my mover to calculate the total cost of moving my stuffs from China to Australia.I will be waiting to read back from you.

Had put an add on Gumtree for townhouse share and got contacted by SMS by a number that you can't respond to. The person respond was named 'Catherine Millers' and used the email ID cathymiller707@gmail.com. When I sent an email to the mentioned email address, I received exactly the same email body as others specified on this website.

5/2/2018 placed an add on gumtree offering a room to rent in a houseshare in Batemans Bay. Cathy contacted me via txt msg but not via a mobile number and you are only able to reply to her via the email address of cathymill707@gmail.com she left in the msg body. as per other reports i didn't bother contacting.

This is a scam, contacted for accommodation via Gumtree in Australia. SMS with header name Cathy no reply number likely using Skype messaging to block true number. Looking for accommodation in Surry Hills and Darlinghurst.
