| Roz Cairns, Queensland, Australia 2018-03-15 13:20:21 Classified Ads Scam Gumtree | +2 Car advertised for sale on Gumtree This guy also goes under the name Frank James Scott with an email of frankjames5501@gmail.com
I recieved a txt requesting I email only as he is deployed in the navy and wanting to purchase car for his son as a graduation gift. Even offered me $300 to take down advert as sold on car.
Asked for my bsb and account details or paypal account.
I asked about signing paperwork for change of ownership details and he said the freight company had authority to sign on his behalf.
I requested photo i.d or no sale.
He sent a false drivers licence which I cant attached but the details are: Kenny Scott, 2 Bracklemann Drive, Boulder,Western Australia, 6432, expiry 16 March 2021, Class C R, date of birth 25 June 1952, licence number 3132552.
The licence looks legitimate and same as mine so fair to say its stolen.

Listed a car for sale on GumTree, got the same email as the posters above. With the same suspicious typos, offer of $300 etc.
Treated him as a real person, replied with a short email on condition of the car (what waste of my time...), told him the payment shall be by Bank Cheque only. He replied "Thanks for your details explained and i'm okay with the full condition of the car now , the agent will be signing all the necessary document on my behalf. So kindly reply back to me with your Bank Account details ( Account Number, BSB Number and Account Name) so i can proceed with the payment now asap. "
So I kindly replied with the link to this page and "please explain". He disappeared, what a surprise!

Sent text message from 0421268890 saying only reply by email. Email states "Thank you for the mail, I'm interested in buying this and i will be paying you the asking price so consider it sold,i will like you to be honest with me because i will not be available to come for inspects due to nature of my work, Honestly i am buying this for my son, but the issue is I'm a NAVY Vet and i just got a deployed. It's strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area. But I'm able to access email any time as will make use of computer.
I want it to be the perfect graduation gift for him and am making it a surprise package as well ,Does it have any history I should be aware of? and why are you selling it if you don't mind my asking. I don't mind adding an extra $300.00 for you just to take down the posting..I am already in talks with freighters that will handle the pickup and delivery .I will really appreciate if you can email more info
Due to the nature of my work i am a very busy person working all day, am a (NAVY Vet in which i deal Vet Software's) am presently on-board, i don't have access to my bank account online as am not with my credit card details here but i have my ANZ bank account link up with my PayPal account so I will be paying you through Account to your nominated bank account or better still is if you have a PayPal account ,please get back to me with your BSB and account details or PayPal account so i can proceed with the payment and contact the courier agent who will come to pick it up and deliver it in WA for my son .Await your reply"
I asked him to transfer the $300 and evidence of a pick up date, then he tried to get to use money gram and then I received a very similar email from another person called McNeff Michael K which is when I knew this was a scam.
