|  +1 Online Dating Scammer Davewinks, whenitcold22 He winked at me on match.com, I gave him my unlisted cell phone number to text. (Because communication is faster this way). His stories got crazier and crazier. First his ex wife was dating an ex con and his two children were in fear of the ex con. Next day he claimed that his ex-wife filed a restraining order against him. I asked him when we would meet, and he said this weekend. Then I got an email from him claiming that he had to go to Turkey for his job as a hydrographic surveyor, on Sunday. Wow! Once \"in Turkey\" he said that he finally sold his house in Michigan and Thank God, he really needed the money to buy his mother a smaller house and take care of his sister because her husband is a jerk. Then he sent me a text saying that he loaned one of his co-workers money that they couldn\'t pay back until Monday of next week but he had to pay his \"hired hands\". He was so pissed. I told him, I am sorry but I have no money to help him. He said I don\'t want money just love. Next day I get another text from him asking if I could loan him $750 until Thursday. Although I was finding this quite amusing, I worry that some other innocent person may be conned by this scammer.

-Told me he was born in Scotland. Father is from Scotland Mother from Michigan
- When I heard his voice on the phone he sounded like a black man, had an extremely poor grasp of English. When I asked him about it, he said he was raised in Spain, that\'s why his accent was all messed up.

I was reading profiles on OkCupid when I viewed the profile of Simplesmiles11. I did not leave a response but received an email from him saying he was sad that he saw I visited his profile but did not email him. He advised it was easier to text. We texted for for a few weeks. I received the same basic story - hydrographic surveyor (profile said offshore surveyor). Said he moved to Maryland a year ago for a fresh start. Has a sone (16) and daughter (13) in Michigan. Mom in Akron MI.
The week of Thanksgiving he came up with the story that his Mom and sister needed money and his previous marriange left him in financial straits so he was taking this big job. He had to go in and get to work Monday and make all the arrangements. He was leaving for ND for a few days (over Thanksgiving). Once he got to ND he started with a story that the hauler had not delivered the heavy equipment they needed to do the job. He needed $450 to pre-pay the hauler. Because the job was not through his work (side job) he was responsible for making all the arrangements. He was paid 20% down for the job but somehow couldn't pay the hauler. Then he started bad mouthing his friends because they wouldn't lend him the money til Monday.
Whenever I asked if he wanted to "talk" on the phone he would ignore the question. He asked if I was on other sites - to make sure I didn't run into him there too!
