Now after looking him up he has tried this scam with others and failed using the same phone number he is texting me off of.

Received email from 'Gumtree' suggesting that we use Top Vehicle Brokers to deposit asking price in 3rd party (Barclays) account.
We deposited the money, the car didnt turn up.
Reported it to Barclays, Gumtree & Police to no avail. Barclays & Gumtree were quick to dismiss the situation, which is shocking considering they must have been aware of the several other cases. The police determined bank account was opened with fake ID.
