The text read: "Katty will like to know if your listed camera is still on for sale if yes Kindly get back to her with the confition and firm price on kattmoore121@gmail.com" I was suspicious straight away as I had not received any activity on my Gumtree Account. I emailed the address and asked "Katty" to please get in contact with me directly through Gumtree if she genuinely wants the Camera that i was selling, and instead of doing that, she replied to the email the following: "Thanks for the reply, I will like to buy it for my kid who is getting married very soon.I am interested and am okay with the price.i would have love to call in person but we have call restriction due to bad weather condition our satellite server has been down.i will be paying you through PayPal or transferring the money from my paypal wire bank transfer to your bank account,pls get back to me with your PayPal details or you can alternatively send your bsb account name and number if you have no PayPal account, so i can proceed with the payment into any of the two and I estimated the shipping cost via Australian post which is about $100 to ship it over to my kid in Beijing,China. I await your reply" I have almost been scammed this way before and i know a few people that have been also, so i knew straight away this was a scam. PayPal doesn't "release" funds after a tracking number has been provided. I have reported the scammer to Gumtree. | |||||
