Supposed relative with same last name as recipient died intestate with $3.8 million U.S. in a bank account. The funds need to be claimed within ten years and the scammer offers to handle the transfer of funds with the assistance of a notary to the recipient. The recipient is assured to qualify to receive the funds, all legal. Of course, the offer must remain confidential with no third party involvement with contact to be made strictly by telephone or email.
The envelope was mailed from a Canadian address: 700 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5G 0A1.
A web check immediately revealed a number of similar attempts by the same party with the same MO.
I did not engage the sender in any way.
