He sent a further reply asking for my account name, bank name, BSB and account numbers. I have a paypal account and he said he could pay by paypal so why did he need my bank account details?

I was to cash the check and take the cash and then buy a money gram and money order and send that to them with the extra amount along with the item they were buying from me.
