The txt message came through from someone called 'bec' however they're not in my phone contacts. I replied via email as requested in the txt message. Something didn't seem right so I searched the email address in google which showed she appeared to be a serial scammer.
She asked for my best offer on my item and I stated what I wanted. I then asked what exactly my item was to which I got the reply

"Regarding your jewellery ad on Gumtree, what's the best price for it? Please get back to me via ccatryna0@gmail.com. I can't make calls because I'm on an off-shore rig and they always drop out." So I emailed her with the best price and received a response within about 2 hours saying:

The item was generically described e.g. "furniture" - no details of specific item advertised were given, which was what initially raised my suspicion. Requested response to an email address with request "pls no text", which also raised my suspicions.
